Crossing Lines

US Patent #6871616 Pet Umbrella and Combined Pet Leash and Umbrella. (PDF)

I can’t decide if this is just plain silly or pure brilliance. Then again, I imagine there are quite a few things we take for granted now were deemed crazy at one point.  Nothing comes to mind right now, though (cheese?).
